I picked it up on Friday...

Untold Story> very slight difference to 2000 version

Making of Untold Story> No comment. A certain part of it is highly inappropriate for an FM tribute release. I am referring to the "farting" bit. I really dont find it amusing here.

Promo videos> no remastering, exactly same encoding as 2000 release. Time promo starts with drop-outs etc... (if Radio GaGa could be remastered from the original film for GVH2, why not Time ?)

Last interview. 7 minutes long - I am not convinced it is unedited, in the middle it stops and restarts. Although this one alone makes the DVD worth to buy!

Subtitle errors.. ie Mack is called Mick etc...

Mack/David Richards/Mike Moran interviews. Long and boring.

No other FM interviews. Still misses the 3rd version of Barcelona and Great Pretender from German TV (maybe legal problems here...)

I am serious. You will all see it when you get a copy.

4:3 ratio all promos, same as in 2000.

WTF why waste our money on crap like this? I mean is this all they can come up with? Honestly, us fans deserve much more for our money.

The video collection DVD that's in the Solo Collection only had PCM audio, this one also has DTS5.1. Will pay a closer look tonight, I just bought the 2CD set and the DVD.

Nope. The 2000 version has Dolby Digital 5.1 and 2.0.

PCM would be nice actually.. uncompressed audio :) I'm looking forward to the new DTS mixes. I've been told that they didn't just use the 2000 versions of 5.1, but actually remixed them again.

Hopefully The Untold Story will be anamorphic 16:9 this time. It's letterboxed to begin with...

Looks like I'll have my copy in about a week. Amazon doesn't ship early on pre-orders like most retailers do, the bastards ;)

Is the book out today too? I've been in a couple of shops & they only have the CD & DVD.

Lover Of Life...

The film has now several audio options: DTS 5.1, PCM stereo with narration, PCM stereo without narration (which I found very clever) and commentary.

...Singer Of Songs

As a matter of fact, they DID use the 2000 mixes, just remastered - with the obvious exception of the 1993 video of Living On My Own (not included in the 2000 release) which was 'upmixed' (using ProTools 'unwrap' function - I guess). Anyway, to have all videos in PCM stereo and DTS 5.1 is actually very nice.

I also liked The Three Producers, albeit I reckon it gets a little reiterative. That does not bother me, quite the opposite - after all, I AM a QUEENadict.

The book is now listed as coming out next week, the 11th. And of course if anyone doesn't already know, the 'audio book' is internet-only David Wigg interviews for purchase at iTunes and QOL.

Thanks Mikahl. Trust me to look for something that isn't even out yet !! Some websites had the release date as today, some as Wednesday 6th & some as next week.... Oh well, another weeks wait won't hurt I guess.

Hehe, well I have to wait an extra week for the DVD AND the book, each.

And not to keep picking on you Wilki, but if The Untold Story has 5.1 of any kind, it's new too. The original is only 2.0 DD :)

And judging by the clips at the site, the narrator himself is new too.

KEEP picking??? Anyway, you are right, Mikahl. I wrote my post in a different way originally and then mixed my comments of the 2 DVDs. Thanks for the correction. I will edit accordingly.

It's the 'juke-box' interview, recorded round the release of Great Pretender and the recording of Barcelona album.

So... calling it Freddie's last recorded interview certainly is a bit dubious.

...btw, I had a quick listen before the weekend, and indeed it seems like the DTS sound on the video's indeed is slightly different to the 5.1 sound on the 2000 release. Haven't compared them enough to be certain. It could well sound 'different' because of the DTS-format.

1987. No other info known, as usual... this is of course the last known recorded studio TV interview, not general interview. David Wigg 87 audio interviews / Q Magazine from Dec 1988 / and Mike Read radio interview (1989) all took place later. The TV interview at the Royal Opera House is also there with Caballe.

So that leaves us with the conclusion> the interview is the "last studio interview with Rudi and Freddie".
