if Freddie had sung this, it would have been in 1991 in montreux, so it was made in heaven era and it would have appears on this album. it doesn't seem me very possible knowing that Freddie just find time to record 4 last songs in 1991 and even didn't finshed to record completely mother love.

You have to admire Cro's persistance...

"Does this exist?"

- No

"Didn't Greg Brooks say it did?"

mate, if you're not going to believe people, don't ask them. In this case, try asking Greg, since you're quoting him as a source.

I can't believe the stupidity :

"wasn't it a brian solo song" "freddie never sang it"

How can you morons say Freddie never sang it. You don't know. I don't know if he did or didn't but there are rumors going around that he did. So it's a possibility that it's in the archives. Geniuses, to avoid future statements that I find stupid and would provoke a reply like this from me please use your common sense. Common sense like, "well Headlong and "I can't Live you" were Brian solo songs he intended to put on his album so why is it impossible that Freddie wouldn't demo atleast one other song that Brian had around that time.

Brian said in an interview that Freddie loved the song, but that he wanted Brian to record the song for himself, outside of Queen.

Around the summer of 1991 - Brian May was approached and commissioned by the Ford Motor Company (UK) to write an advertising jingle to promote their latest line of vehicles.

The commission - taken from the latest Ford advertising brief - was to construct a jingle around the new Ford campaign 'Everything We Do Is Driven By You' (a phrase invented by a Ford promotional team – and NOT Mr. May).

So it is from this promotion we ended up with the Brian May track we are so familiar with. It was never written with Freddie in mind, nor was it ever considered at any time as a Queen track.

The track was conceived and evolved outside Queen, and was written exclusively for the purpose to sell more Ford motors, and was even ‘released’ as a ‘Ford Promotional Electronic Press Kit’ which contained among other things, the full (as yet unscreened) television commercial. (All broadcast commercials were edited versions of the fuller track). It was the commercial that sold the song to the public – not vice versa.

Although it would be nice to think that Brian could have taken the song to Freddie, the sad fact is that this was never done. Apart from the lack of time because of Freddie’s illness, (the song was already in production by the time the final ‘Made In Heaven’ sessions were recorded), Brian had already previously ventured into several solo projects (for example: ‘Star Fleet’ and an unreleased ‘Olympic Theme’, as well as the germ of a new solo album), and ‘Driven By You’ was yet another avenue for his fledgling solo career – a career outside Queen – and away from ‘mother’.

So in sum – no Freddie version, as Freddie was never involved at any stage. It would be nice if Greg would confirm this for you, (as I do not believe that he ever said Freddie did), but I guess we will wait a long time for that to happen.
