Hi Folks....

Thought it would be nice to start a nice happy thread all about our memories from last years major event: The now legendary Meadowlands NJ Q+PR Concert held October 16th of last year. The anniversary is coming up quick ( wow...already?) and it would be fun to get together here and reminise about the grand ol' time we all had that day and night!

I'll start off with listing some highpoints...and let others take over. Let's hear all your GREAT MEMORIES ( and NOTHING about the "VIP Packages" ok? LOL!)

So let's gaze back through the mists of time......

New York City...

The Queen Tailgate Party...( can we now call it "THE OFFICIAL Queen Tailgate since Jacky was there??)

The minutes before the show started....

The SHOW itself..

The aftermath!...

Ahhhh.......those were the days when we were not sure if they would return to the States to perform live again. It was a very special show, as folks from all over, even different continents, made the trek to NJ that crisp Autumn day to partake in history: The first Queen Live concert in 23 years on American soil!

It was indeed a grand day.

:)

A grand day indeed. Finally got to meet my fellow Commissioner of Tailgating, Mercarts, and met up with lots of friends: iron eagle, Ray, Lisser, Pieter and Erin, Deryke and Steve, Linda, Deacy's 1st, Renie "I am not Roger Taylor", my brilliant Australian sister, Jacky and all the great people (Dicko, Brian, Rachel, Cathy and others) who came over from the UK for the gig.

Talked Steve and Deryke taking me on a munchies and beer run for the Tailgate Party because there was no way all that stuff would fit into my car. Thanks guys!

Drove back to Washington, DC at 5:00 am after the pre-gig tailgate party, the gig, and the post-gig festivities because I had to be at work at 9:00 am. Took a power nap for an hour after I started falling asleep at the wheel on the New Jersey Turnpike (Joisey, which exit?!)

Headed out to Hollywood the following Thursday . . . another interesting weekend, to say the least! Scored some MAJOR bling at the auction at the Hard Rock Cafe, Chris Thompson and his band ROCKED!

Yeah, October 2005 was memorable.

Ah, memories! Already a year... wow!

Being a hardcore Queen fan for ten years and finally getting to see Brian and Roger for the first time is something I'll never forget. For all those years, I truly thought it would never be possible. At best, I thought I'd see a Brian May solo gig one day, if he'd ever take pity on North America and tour here again... either that, or empty the bank account and go to Europe - which I almost did! But no, I waited, and I'm glad I did, as I got a trip to New York out of the deal. Seeing Brian with Roger and the legendary Paul Rodgers was more than I could have ever asked for.

The atmosphere before the show was electric. I wasn't nearly as close to the stage as I would have liked to have been (I would get the chance to be 5 feet away in Buffalo in March, though!). Like I would at any other concert, I just breathed in the atmosphere before the show. I had seen Dream Theater, Rush, Yes, Page and Plant, and a few others I really love, but Queen is my very favourite band, so it was different this time... a totally different vibe. The two hours were timeless, and so were the Toronto and Buffalo shows. These were six of the greatest hours of my life.

As for NJ, I was disappointed that there weren't any new Queen songs in the set, but to see Brian and Roger in any capacity was more than enough for me. If there are any more Q+PR shows, I will make the trip to Europe. I'm not hoping for another North American tour, so if they do even one more show in Europe, I will take the plunge and see them one more time. It'll be worth it.

My sentiments exactly. Hearing that unmistakeable guitar ring out during Lose Yourself was one of the most exciting things I've ever heard, and it was just the beginning. Such a great feeling to sing along to Love of My Life, clap to Radio Ga Ga; all the classic Queen concert moments I'd previously only seen on video. Roger's "fuck me, it's good to be back" was great, Brian's guitar solo is amazing to hear live, great feelings all around. Absolutely nothing could compare to the electricity of that concert.

Wow--a year already!! What a journey it has been this past year--the best of my life. NJ-LA-Tornoto-BUF-PIT-CLE-CHI-DET-MSP-Milwaukee-Vancouver-Vegas..then the Paul solo shows here and in the UK....fantastic indeed...each show better than the next--new faces every night--musical energy that could not be matched.

Rock on--Bri and Roger

and especially Rock on Paul Rodgers for without you we would not have these memories to savor and discuss. :-)
