The Darkness lead vocalist Justin Hawkins just quit the band. Thank god we won't be hearing any further songs with that horrific voice. And no more of these lame Queen comparisons.

Great.... That just makes more room for Nickelback in the mainstream.

I'd rather have a Justin Hawkins a cappella song on the radio twice an hour than another note from these Theory Of A Nickelfault type bands.

I don't understand why people ignore bands who are influenced by queen or the bands from that era...i think the darkness are not bad and i much rather listen to them than some stupid mtv band with the same boring music and the same boring 3 chord songs and besides as far as i know they are gonna carry on
which is good!!

I find it a shame because they sort of paved the way for bands like ours. It will be a lot harder for us now.

After reading the interview in the Sun, I really can't see how people in this thread are 'happy' with what's happened to him. Maybe they just don't know the real reason why he's quit. If not, read on and become enlightened.

If you still insult the guy after reading through that, you're in a dark place. That's all that can really be said. Poor guy.

Adam.

OKay...so if he quit the band, does that mean they just get a new "front man?"

Discuss, LOL.

Or not.

... they're continuing on as The Darkness +PR. Expect a tour and live album soon.

Gotta say though, That first Darkness album was pure fucking gold. The wit and cheek was delivered with pin-point precision. 'Love on the rocks with no ice', 'Givin' up' and 'Get your hands off my woman'... pure class. Anyone who doesn't laugh and enjoy these tracks deserves to listen to Nickelback.

He was more than just their singer or "front man". He also played lead guitar, piano, and wrote the songs.

I put "front man" in quotations to be snarky. Sorry that didn't convey correctly.

But does the band go on anyway with a replacement or replacements? That's my true Q, I guess.

First of all, anyone who ever compared them to Queen was deaf. They were more like a prettier rip-off of AC/DC. And the rock falsetto didn't come anywhere near that done by Ian Gillan or Roger Taylor. Fuck, Ted Neeley as well.

You shouldn't have been listening to anyone 'comparing' them to anything, because they didn't have a leg to stand on.

Second, I'm glad you can have a laugh about someone quitting a band because of drug problems. It's actually not that funny. You are a bonehead.
