I've been supporting him since 1994.

12 amazing years full of golden memories. Danke schön Michael!

I'm not his fan, but I've been always amazed by his racing. Yeah, I was so much moved to see his last one.
Thanks a lot and Goodbye Schumi! Wish you good luck for the rest of your life :))

Well, last season was really interesting Mari... He deserved to win yesterday. What a race!! I'm not a fan either, but he deserves some credits.

I'll always treasure that moment where he was pumping his fist and then rejoicing on the podium - after winning the race that killed Ayrton Senna.

That's what I call good sportmanship.

A great end to a controversial, sometimes distasteful, often brilliant and never less than interesting career. I've gone from disliking Schumacher early on to supporting him in his championship battles, but even his most ardent fan would have to admit some of his tactics have been less than innocent down the years; equally, even his greatest detractors would have to concede many of his drives have been breathtakingly brilliant.

Here's to 2007, though, and a year of uncertainties and - hopefully - excitement.

Great Race yesterday...This is my first season being an F1 fan and a schumi fan, sad he's retiring and even more sad how bad things went the last two races but man to make it back up to 4th place with all those problems, what an amazing job and great show to watch!
Not too psyched about Kimi coming to Ferrari, no personality. But yea! for Massa

That's a bit of an exaggeration. He's not exactly leaping around, although he does smile down at one of his team below the podium. Nobody knew Senna was dead by that stage (and technically speaking he wasn't). And if you see the footage from the post-race press conference - by which stage they would all have been told exactly how hopeless Senna's condition was - he's very sombre indeed.

You can accuse Schumacher of a lot of questionable things in F1 (as you could Senna as well, but of course he was a glamorous Brazilian so he got away with it by being a "character"), but trying to imply he was happy and celebrating when he knew Senna was dead is simply inaccurate.

"That's a bit of an exaggeration."

No. Pumping of fist and a rejoicing guy are two things I have on video from back then. No exaggeration there.

"He's not exactly leaping around"

Now YOU are exaggerating! I never said anything about leaping, why are you bringing that up?

"Nobody knew Senna was dead by that stage"

Anyone with a brain stem would know he was virtually dead right after that crash.... it's plain obvious. Someone surely would've told Schumacher, unless they wanted him to look happy on the podium, in which case he's totally forgiven.

"trying to imply he was happy and celebrating when he knew Senna was dead is simply inaccurate"

I didn't imply, I commented. Indeed - I just found it funny in a macabre sense that he was looking so pleased with himself, when not far away there would've been a deal more misery awaiting everyone. I think you misinterpret me!

Schumi is the Maradona of F1...

...minus the cocaine habit.

There are videos of the Imola 94 podium on Youtube. Michael pumps his fist inside his car after winning and he is the only one who smiles on the podium.

Of course he knew Ayrton was almost dead and then the horns and tail appeared to enhance his satanic figure as he smirked and laughed on the podium and I lip read what he said there and he said "Hah hah haa! Now that King Ayrton is dead solely due to my sabotaging! I shall reign over F1 until the year 2006 winning seven championships with my satanic powers! and the help of FIA *evil laughter*"

No, seriously. I'm sure he wasn't aware of the seriousness of the situation at the point. He is hardly a heartless bastard, no matter how much his haters would like to believe that.

And I am sad that he didn't win his eight championship. I can't stand Fingerboy Alonso, who comes across as a diva of some sort with his statements whenever things aren't going his way.

And now we're robbed of seeing the possible pairings Kimi vs Alonso in McLaren or Schumi vs Kimi in Ferrari. Either of those would have been awesome. I mean the last so-called top guy in F1 to drive with K.R is now in Nascar. And Montoya was highly regarded (had a future in f1) before his pairing with K.R. And seeing K.R vs Alonso or Schumi in equal machinery would have pretty much revealed as to which driver is the real deal and which one is mostly "pure hype" Of course right now the only one of those three without a WDC is K.R, so he better win it with the Ferrari and do it in style.

Surely I wouldn't know, I don't expend enough energy on it to be a 'hater'. Heh.
