This is from Brian's webpage: www.brianmay.com!

"Roger and Paul Rodgers and I have been in the studio the last few days working on NEW NEW NEW material ... quite an occasion really. Apart from our excursions with Dave Stewart for Nelson Mandela a couple of years back (most of which never got heard) this is our first QUEEN new recording session for about 15 years. It may turn into an album ... it may lead elsewhere, but right now we are HAVING FUN ! And ..... it sounds pretty amazing to my ears ... very different from anything Paul or Queen have ever done. And pretty epic !!"

This is the best news in many years. Creativity is a dynamic process and it now seems to happen for them. To be honest, there have been some strange stuff from them in the latest years... like the 46664 stuff etc, that was quite average in my opinion.... This sounds more serious and more passionate.. :)

Agreed, I can hardly wait to get my hands on the new album.

Correction: I said earlier: "...46664 stuff etc, that was quite average in my opinion...

I don't mean by that, that they were not passionate about the cause and the message they wanted to get across, but rather that the music itself was kind of uninspired.. The point is that I find "Invicible Hope" to have a important message, but as a song it's not that good...

"Say It's Not True" is a nice song, but not so exiting in my ears, and "The Call" could have been molded into something exiting (Instrumentally and harmonically quite intricate), but Brian is not convincing vocally I'm afraid...

Just my babbling....

I will take Brian's comments about the quality of the songs with a pinch of salt until I hear them for myself. I remember him raving about the 46664 tracks and we know how crappy they are.

Agree with you on that----I am holding my applause....What else would he say...it's not working out? It's crap? I hope it's roger/paul influenced--brian's song writing lately has been sub par. Paul's new stuff he showcased on the UK tour was good --I could see those working with a dash or heavy helping of talent from RMT and small dash from BHM.

Brian's songwriting lately?

Did he write anything besides The Call after the wonderful Another World album?

The Call---exactly what I mean and AW aside from Wilderness was really weak IMHO

Speaking as a musician...It would be hard for me to believe that Brian hasn't developed some ideas over the past few years for structure, melody, or lyrics for new material. This material probably just hasn't surfaced until he went into the studio with Roger and Paul. I think that the album will be considerably better than a lot of the crap that's floating around today. Will it be good in comparison to the material that we know them for already...I suppose we'll just have to wait and see.

It will definately be a lot better than most of the new music today. Looking forward to it if it sees the light of day.

I agree AW could have been much better but I really like No-one But You (which was planned for AW), Dream of Thee (+other Furia stuff) and The Call. I don't think Brian has lost his touch. He can (and will) write good rockers and touching ballads. Just wait and see/hear...

I expect this album to be good. They are 3 gifted musicians and songwriters -and they are all true rockers.

I've always feared the "comeback" album, especially when the lineup changes. The first listen skews you because you're just glad to get another album, but then reality hits.

Hopefully this turns out to be something like The Who or Toto put out this year, and not a Journey that nobody cares about.

I just hope its a new sound for them. They can't rehash the heavy keyboard sounds of the 80' & 90's. Brian's BTTL & AW just sounded so dated. Like it was a Queen album written & sung strictly by Brian. It need to be in your face rock n roll. Take Love was a good direction to head towards. After hearing it three time during the US tour it started to grow on me. Especially Brian's solo at the end. The lyrics weren't the most profound, but its delivery was good. IMO Maybe it will have a nice bluesy sound to it. Here's to hoping!
