If you enter into a relationship with a guy who shares your views, then the 'roles' you each play will be roles you've chosen. There's no requirement except for those the two of you make.

But if you both like your jobs/careers, and kids arrive, how will you handle it? You would want to continue working yet you'd want to raise them yourself. Who would stay home, him or you? Or would you put them in day care? If one of you stays home, then one of you is sacrificing your education - whichever one of you that is. If neither of you stays home, then someone else is in essence raising your kids... and the money you earn is going to that.

So... what's the answer? Not to be stupid when choosing a partner, a career or a time to have kids. Husbands and wives make sacrifices all the time. And you might be surprised to hear this, but many of the women who had illustrious careers CHOOSE to stay home and raise their kids and then eventually go back to work outside the home.

It's all about choice and more often than not, the choice is not an easy one to make.

EDIT - Cookies... WTF?

So you are going to let society dictate the way you and your future husband live? Essentially, YOU will decide the role that you play as a wife, not society.

Deciding you will be a feminist based on some of the things you said above is pretty silly, IMO. But then again, I don't like feminists.

Edit: Although I am not a housewife, I find it insulting that you think it is "throwing away" an education to stay at home. Does it not take intelligence to raise a child and to form them into good people? Does it not take intelligence to run a good household and to be, in essence, the root of the family? My mother was a stay at home mother and I loved every moment and she NEVER regretted doing that because she loved her children and husband that much.

Some women actually DO have careers and try to stay at home, but more often than not it appears to me that they wish they could stay at home to be with their children instead.

I find it highly tedious and frustrating that feminists choose to insult women that decide to stay at home and sum it up to them having no ambitions and courage. How is it not ambitious to give birth to children and to care for them unconditionally? Personally, I have always wanted to be a mother and wife more than anything else and I won't stand for a feminist to tell me that my life is without ambition.

*steps off soapbox*

In the wrong thread, eh? This is where we discuss recipes. ;-)

And why should we share favorite recipes? It takes no intelligence to cook a meal, right?

You are completely taking what I said and warping it into something to make me look like an asshole. Don't really appreciate it, thanks.
