Anyone know about this? Supposedly released next March, a 10 CD singles box set. Will be very interesting if it contains all the B Sides, and stand alone versions of some of the older tracks.

It was suposed to be released this November, but QueenProductions has delayed it until ... God knows when!!- Maybe March? I don´t know, i think they´re more focused on the Q+PR right now.

Take care

just a thought......but does 10cd's make any sense at all?? OK, Queen had what, maybe 50 singles if you count things released after Freddie's death, and I believe about 40 if you dont........which would make that about 80-100 songs or so........so 8 to 10 songs to a cd? seems like you could make that 6 or 7 CDs....

Yes, but don't forget this is Queen Productions. The words blood and stone spring to mind. That HMV price has GOT to be wrong.

The Freddie Box set included 2 CDs, or 28 tracks, just for his solo singles. If the Queen Singles set is as comprehensive as the Freddie Box singles CDs were, then I'd think a 10 CD set is appropriate.

And that's overlooking the 16 or so versions of You Don't Fool Me (which could be 1 God-awful and repetitive CD on its own).

I say, pre-order with them NOW! If, down the line, it turns out to be something else, you can cancel it and shrug your shoulders. But if it turns out to be the set we've heard about, you'll get it for that wonderful price. Win win, I say.

Adam.

Already have, Adam, but as HMV don't charge before shipping, and it does stiuplate so in their T&Cs, I think they can change the price further down the line, and are not obliged to sell the item at the originally advertised price. I have had this arise before with them, and have pre-ordered stuff incredibly cheaply, but when it comes to the release, the item is conveniently 'out of stock' or 'unavailable', forcing a new order at the 'correct' price. Still, you can't lose anything by pre-ordering, and it's easy enough to cancel should the need arise.

Ummm.... when they "singles" box set... that could mean something like the 3"CD set. Take a look at the Rolling Stones, and the Who, I think... not sure of the other bands that have this... but they release a box of CDs in their single, 45rpm format. So ie: a slip case of the BohRhap sleeve with a CD containing ONLY 1. BohRhap and 2. I'm In Love With My Car. And who knows, they can spin it on Queen's #1 singles only, or maybe singles from a certain era, etc... I certainly hope this is not the case... but we'll see.

They only have 4 UK number ones (including the single with 5ive)...unless they do one with only European number ones, but they had a lot of number ones in just one country(Poland, Austria etc), i don't think that's really representative as a Number 1 singles collection.

I think what i had in mind is more likely. The working title is Singles Box, not a Number One Singles Box...but hey it's Queen Productions, so everything is possible. :p

I doubt they're going to devote three discs to rarities and BBC sessions. I would think instead they would integrate overseas releases into the first seven discs you have, including 'Long Away', their B-sides, and so forth.

Got info this is the first 10 singles (as 2 to 4 songs per CD), put in cardboard packaging.
There should be 4 sets in all - one every 2 months.
Regarding the price on offer at HMV, this seems right.

People must be blind when they visit the HMV page because it clearly states at the top, "Singles: 10cd".

People this was already discussed here by Greg Brooks!´

The box-set is suposed to have ALL the singles that were ever released in all the formats and edits around the world. There were only two songs that Queen didn´t want to include because they didn´t like the final result. One of them is "Liar" edit version and i can´t remember the other one.

It was suposed to be 12 or 13 CD´s but EMI told them to put a máx of 10 CD´s. There will be no demos or outtakes in this compilation unless they were issued as a B-side in some country of the world.

Take care

Bobby Brown is correct - Greg also discussed this at convention last year and said EMI told him to cut it down from 12 discs to 10 discs, and so the Fool Me remixes & UP Rah remixes were removed.

BM & RT apparantly said they weren't keen on the US edits or Liar & It's Late, but Greg insisted.

We'll have to wait and see.
