I scored a 39. I could reasonably defend every answer that may have led to "racist points." Of course I don't deem this an accurate test, but it would make a good discussion for those who do not simply want to spurt out test scores.
1. Do you think there are genetic differences in race that contribute to an individual's characteristics?
I answered "Yes" because it is true. Particularly the most noticable individual characteristic is skin color and appearance. There may be other subtle genetic differences in means as well, however, variance would likely rule them out as actual differences. If only concerning appearance, and if only a minute, insignificant portion of genes are different, there are definitely genetic differences among the races.
2. Do you think that some races are better at certain sports?
I answered yes, because there are several cultural factors that play into one's predilection and skill at certain sports. For instance, basketball seems to be popular among blacks in the United States, and many blacks tend to be athletically inclined due to culture and other situational factors. Many Hispanics play baseball because it is a very popular sport in their cultures. Obviously, the more one plays a sport, and the more it is accepted by one's culture, the better one would be at it. A perfect example is Canadians or Russians and hockey.
3. How about some races being better in education?
Yes, there are definitely strong differences among cultures concerning the importance of education.
4. Are you against affirmative action?
Yes, affirmative action is a very flawed system, and I could spend pages and pages discussing this very subject.
5. Racial profiling:
"It works in some situations" is what I answered. It does work, and in many situations, but that is not to say that it is just or fair, or that I support it.
8. Amnesty for illegal aliens is:
I chose undecided, which can hardly be racist. One must always balance fairness, as this is not an entirely racial issue, if a racial issue at all (to me).
16. In general, whites are better at math than blacks.
I put "True." Once again, I must cite cultural and situational differences among the two races in the aggregate.
17. There are some things, such as talents, that just make certain races better at some things.
I put "maybe so." Again, cultural values, etc.
19. Rap music is basically a black thing.
I answered, "yes, but whites enjoy it too." It is a "black thing" as the vast majority of rap artists are black. However, whites enjoy it to, which is particularly obvious since the majority of rap's market share is among whites.
20. Country music is basically a white thing.
"Yes, but black enjoy it too." Same deal, essentailly, except that the majority of country's market share is also whites. However, it would be unreasonable to assume that blacks inherently do not enjoy country music, although the vast majority likely do not.
So from these explanations, it is clear that I am not racist at all. Many people's ideas of "non-racist" is that "non-racists" simply ignore differences among the races. This is not only ignorant, but quite foolish. There are several, obvious differences among the various cultures and races of the world, and it might even be "racist" to ignore these differences.
Creativity can always cover for a lack of knowledge.
