My greatest Christmas memory is from when I was about 9, I guess. I had this old round travel case that was my grandma's, and I kept all my Barbie stuff in it; dolls, clothes, everything.
And I never used to pick it up after myself. I would get all my stuff out...find something else to do and just leave it. Well in the summertime my mom got fed up with picking up after me, so the next time I went to look for it I couldn't fimd it. She told me she got tired of picking them up and she picked them up one last time and threw them away.

Of course, I cried and cried.

The following christmas, after I opened my presents she gave me one last box. When I opened it, it was my Barbie case and all my stuff.

I was sooooo happy. The best present I ever got was stuff I had already had. I never left them out again.

*tears*

My favorite Christmas memory was the last Christmas I had with both of my parents in 1999. My mother had been very very ill for a long time. She had autoimmune and connective tissue disease and was suffering of bouts of heart failure as a result. She had been in the hospital the week before Christmas and came home feeling so weak and sick that she wasn't going to be able to go to the big Christmas Eve gathering that we always had at my sister's house. It was very important to us that year to all be together, as we knew mom was on borrowed time, and our father had just been diagnosed with renal cancer. I remember praying the night before, hoping that she'd rally enough to go, knowing in my heart this would be our last Christmas together. I phoned my parents the next morning, the morning of the party, expecting my father to answer the phone. Mom answered! I was amazed. She said "I feel so much better! I really do!" My parents were at our party and we all had a wonderful special time. My mom was glowing, laughing and joking and in such Christmas cheer. It was so good to see her enjoying herself! Mom died that June, and my father died the April after that. But I will always hold that last special Christmas when we were all together in my heart.

:-)

This is an awesome story!

I have had so many awesome Christmases, it is so hard for me to pick one. I feel bad picking one where I got my favorite present since everyone else is telling such touching stories. I'm just very lucky, every Christmas has been special to me.

But, the Christmas where I freaked out, screamed, and cried at was when I opened the keys to my new car the Christmas of 92'!!! I'll never forget it. My parents have it on video too.

Now my best memories are watching my children open their presents.

Last Christmas was my best Christmas, up until the point where later in the night my arrogant cousin made me bawl my freaking eyes out and I locked myself in the freezing cold car for about forty minutes so no one would see me, until my parents realized that I wasn't even in the house. That was probably only the third time I cried in the entire year. He ruined my record. Then we left. My family was pissed. I really dread seeing him again this Christmas...

But I must say I guess my best Christmas was probably Christmas three years ago. Because the Christmas before that my grandpa was "supposed" to die a month later. But he's still with us. And knowing that he'll be here for more Christmases to come is the best gift I can ask for.

My last few christmases have been shitty as around this time of year for the past two years I've had grandparents pass away, and George the dog had to get put down too :(

But my favourite christmas memory was when I was 10. Our new neighbours had just moved over from England and had no family here so they came to the beach with our family for a BBQ. We played cricket and my uncle brought his fire engine so we had water fights with the fire hoses (my brother thought he was so cool that he got a super soaker, not so cool against a fire hose believe me). We all got sunburnt, which clashed horribly with most of my familys hair because they are gingas. I love christmas at the beach <3

thisll sound weird:

one year we got lots of snow, my uncle gave me and my cousins rides on his snowmobile draggin us on sleds. well my at-the-time stepbro parked the 3 wheeler beside our track, we turned the corner, and prtecting my little cousins (who were in the sled with me) i put my hand out to avoid it, and i broke my hand by hitting the 3 wheeler at 40 mph, its a wonder it wasnt shattered. but everyone was ok (but me) haha

but other than that it was an awesome christmas. last year was good too. all my family was there.

i hope this christmas will be great!

why pay the visit when the visit is free?

Mmm, toughie.

I'd guess it would be every Christmas. My gran would always say 'This will be my last Christmas, my loved ones'. In 2002 she proved all of us wrong. It was a case of 'Nah, you'll live until you're 1000'. Yes, those were the days.

I wish I lived anywhere else but Australia for Christmas. I do dream of a white Christmas. Snow would be both awesome and deadly! My two favourite things!

Dear friends,

I would like to share with you a moment that I hold close to my heart. It was last year on Chrismas day that I had gotten a CD player that played the radio. I was so overjoyed! The first song I heard on this CD/radio player was "Thank God it's Christmas" by Queen. I thought that was pretty lucky of me to actually hear a christmas song by Queen on the radio. Anything like this ever happen to you guys? I'm just asking seeing as how things are starting to look a lot like Christmas and I'm excited.

I was in Massachusetts, and on a pop station or classic rock station, a caller requested 'Thank God It's Christmas' and the DJ said "You think you could fool me?" because of a lack of singles... but the guy played it...

This Christmas will probably be my best.

Hmmm....good topic, BTW.
I don't know, I've had some good Christmas memories in the past. I guess my best one to date was the 3rd year we had moved into our new house in Michigan. I had to work that night before, but the store I was working at actually closed at about 6pm on Christmas Eve, so me and my fiance at the time came home and got some sleep. Christmas the next day was awesome because it was my family and me and him, and he gave me this really pretty necklace and earring set (which I still have). After an early dinner, we drove down to his Grandparents house about an hour away and had the Christmas thing again. His little sister got a new CD, and she was thrilled! She also gave me a little scarf that she'd knitted herself in girl scouts and told me how much she was looking forward to having me for a sister in law.
Kinda depressing to look back on now, since that relationship is done. I remember it though because it was the first Christmas I didn't feel like I was totally alone in the world (with the exception of family).
I don't really want to think about this Christmas. Family stuff is going to make this one really difficult, and I'm going to have to do some reading for a class next semester when I'm not busy...so the work will never stop.

Ah, don't be silly. We should do something during X-mas. Away for a few days, something like that ;-)).
