My opinion is that book is so fucking good that you should go and read it right now and have your own opinion. It's much funnier to start discussion and conversation about something what you know.

Thanks for the advice, my good man. I'm quite interested in reading a bit of it myself. To be honest, the name "Greg Brooks" on the front cover kind of drew me to it.

Its a fantastic read and i cant believe how much people bag it on here. I really enjoyed it and it can be seen how much effort has gone into it.

I think it's a very good book. I'm always referring to it as some queenzoners don't seem to know anything about Queen. At least Greg Brooks does know his stuff - regardless of what other people say about him! Fair enough, there may be one or two little mistakes in it but it's the best book i've found up to now.

When it comes to Queen "Live", Greg´s 1st edition still is MY "bible"...

...but I have to admit that I still haven´t bought Zeni´s "Queen - The Complete Works" though!

Is it worth buying... reading... and turning into a "sinner" Zeni???

Greg "Books"... you are GOD to me..since you spelled "Deutschlandhalle" right from ´78 till ´84!!!

PS: Sorry, but I have to leave now as they are going to show "Purvis Bueller's Day Off" on TV right now... and I realy love that one since I first saw it twenty years ago! :-)))

I couldn't stop myself from posting in this thread. I'm assuming we're talking about the second edition...

Most people will love the book, and I generally enjoy it too. I reference it now and again, but the truth is, almost every page has a mistake on it. About half of the setlists in the 70s are wrong, for one thing. Greg himself has admitted that he's catering to the majority, and knew very well from the beginning that there were hundreds of errors - and that the overwhelming majority of his readers won't notice them. That, combined with Greg's title as Queen archivist, is why this book is successful, and most likely why any other book about Queen live released in the future - even if it is more correct - will be bound to fail, because it "doesn't agree with the 'official' source". Truly unfortunate.

not enough effort...that's how much...
ok...let's consider a basic fact here:
this book is not a work of fiction...it's supposed to be documented fact..."an authorative guide to queen live" so if you want to know anything about Queen live from 1970-1993 you read this book - right? - WRONG!!!

tell me if you were servicing your own car and the workshop manual had literally hundreds of mistakes in it and you ended not knowing if you could trust the information or not, you would honestly say "oh but it was an interesting read and the pictures were nice" ?

no way!

That would be good enough for me, so piss off, you snob! We don't question the official product, so therefore we are true Queen fans, and we don't need your so-called "rationality".

The book is indeed full of mistakes and there is so much more to be said about Queen live. I hope someone(I'd say: go for it bob) will make a true QUEEN LIVE book:accurate, with interesting musical analysis, with reviews from newspapers and magazines,...

i mean who do you trust for accurate information? the local Fraud (ford) dealership who tell you your capri needs x,y and z fixing to run properly...at a cost of £500 or the local enthusiast who has lovingly restored/repaired and rebuilt "dead fords" for 30yrs and tells you there is an alternative "non-official, less expensive" fix that will make it run as it should...?

seems to me that too many people round here see the word "official" and automatically put their stepford sychophant head on...spending cash in a relentless quest for ANTHING official no matter how shite without even thinking to use their brains...

easiest case to point that i would refer ALL stepfords to...before the next time you opt-in to an official product (like this book)just ask yourself this...if YOU honestly had the choice of live CD which would you choose? -- Live Killers/Live Magic/Live at Wembley (official) or
hammy 75/hammy 79 or earls court 77 (unofficial)

let's face it QP productions consistently make bad decisions with official releases...and releasing something with the "queen" name on it that has as many mistakes as pages is pretty fucking shameful

Dude, I was joking! Hence the wink after my post...

Look at my post earlier in the thread! You've been at this forum for years, so you should know I'm probably GB's biggest critic in the world (look at my blog, for starters!). You're preaching to the choir.

I think Brenski was merely adding to his original point.

How does he spell it before and after?

before 78 he probably called Deutschlandhalle Germany...after 84 he probably referred to Deutschlandhalle as Cuba and the setlist for "Cuba 84" reads....father to son / son & daughter / keep youreslf alove / liar / rock n roll medley / see what a fool i've been ;-)
