Hi all,

I have a question about queencollector.com. He sells Queen bootlegs. I'd love to have a few things from his catalog, but I'm not sure if he's legit. Has anyone ordered DVDs from him? Was everything ok? Are his bootlegs of good quality (as far as bootlegs go)? I'd like to get Houston '77 and Hammy '79. These are two concerts I'd really want to see in their entirety (I saw a few songs through youtube and incomplete downloads, and I was blown away--especially by Houston).

I tried to download Houston several times but could never complete it, and I'm aware that there are several bootlegs of varying quality. I'd like to put my hand on the best one currently available. QP should be ashamed of itself for not releasing Houston at least... What are they waiting for?

There have been many times where concerts shared on QZ for free have popped up soon thereafter on Queencollector.com. Trancer just leeches from here and sells to others at high prices.

If you really want these shows, then may I make a few suggestions. First, place a request or bump the thread so that you can finish the download. Second, if that doesn't work, try to trade for it. Finally, join the Queen Hub where you will gain access to many other bootlegs as well. If you join, there are many users who can answer your quality questions.

Anymore, there is very little reason to buy from Trancer and Queencollector.com.

I've dealt with James for quite a few years and personally I've never had a problem with his products. Nicely packaged and he's very fair. At least with me he has been. I find that the quality of his shows are quite good or as good as you're going to get since people have shows with varying degees of quality. I've never had a complaint with him.

I purchased three albums from that site a few years back when I first started to collect bootlegs.

I've not found any problems with the discs, but apparently (this being confirmed by several collectors) after many listens the glue from the labels seeps into the discs, making them unplayable.

I say "apparently" as I bought my discs 4 years ago and have not personally experienced this.

Of course, an alternative is to visit my bootleg website (link below) and contact me to discuss a trade...

just download shows from queenzone or my site. Don't buy from queencollector..all he does is download shows from queenzone, puts them in a nice little package then charges an arm and a leg.

I still dont understand how his site is still allowed to exist.

No one understands.

But the general consensus around these parts lately is that it is Queen Production's problem and they choose not to deal with it. I find it hard to believe that QP are not aware of Trancer and the rumored $3000 a month he earns from selling bootlegs online.

That, and many of his shows are mp3-sourced. If you're selling bootlegs, that's totally unacceptable. The best part about his bootlegs is the art. He really does a good job with that. But if many of his recordings are from mp3, it really isn't worth the risk.

i have order some of his stuff, and is good 90% i will say. here in new york i just to buy bootlegs dvds and they were really expensive, now he sells them at $15, wich i think are cheap, now if you have the time to do it yourself do it, i don't have the time to download stuff from the internet, so he is my choice, and yes the company that manages queen sucks , because i don't know why they don't put this dvds out in the market, anyway at the end of the day is your choice and only yours, buy it or don't buy it. thank you

How does he do the designs on them? You can't do it with adobeshop!

Hi Ermin!

I bought several stuff from Queencollector over the years, but my advice is to stay here! Save Money, meet (mostly) friendly people and enjoy real great shows. I've joined here just 2 month ago, but in this time I've downloaded more stuff that i could imagine...
Be shure to check out http://www.thetradersden.org/ . The Earl's Court version shared there is the best I've seen so far.

As for Houston; I just seen 2 versions of this Show, the one i got from here:
http://www.geocities.com/queenondvd/ and the "Queen Digital Archives" version. Bot are pretty equal with Picture and Sound quality, but the first one offers a slighty better picture quality. Sound is excellent on both. The "DQA" version is also shared on trader's den!

And yes, Queencollectors CDR's become unplayable after some years. 3 Shows i bought from him are now just distortion...

But what I never expected:

He sells MP3 sourced shows?????? What the f*ck???? How can I find out if my purchased Shows are lossy? is there some programm for this?
I'm aware that my Tokio 01.03.75 and Houston'77 Cd's are lossy, i always wondered about some "strange" noise in the backround.
If he sold me MP3 sh*t, im gonna freak out!!

Greetings; Cygnus

Absolutely. Download "Exact Audio Copy". From the tools menu, select "process wave". In that window, from the display menu, select "frequency analysis". If there is a big cut at 16khz (which is exactly where mp3 makes its alteration), then it is lossy.

Let me know how it works out.

Trancer is just one of many many guys who sells stuff from QZ, gentlemen... A lof of forums and sites around the world are full of the QZ stuff selling to non-English speakers and newbies.

Thanks for the tip Bob!

I checked the shows I purchased from him, it would nice if you can could take a look at it, http://rapidshare.com/files/13988412/Frequency-Analysis.rar.html
but for me it's obviously that there are lossy sourced.
Damn, i should have known it better....

Oh yes we do. It's the same problem as the eBay bootlegs, kiddy porn websites, etc: apathy.
