I got the brian may red special pedal yesterday. I use it with the deacy amp that was out a year or two ago.
Does anyone else find that its very fuzzy and noisy? Like in terms it nearly deafens you. I've messed around with the settings on the amp and pedal,
but still it all sounds messy. I feel i can play better without any effects pedal - just a guitar and amp.

Take crazy little... the accoustic sound is all muffeled, hizzing in the background no matter what way i turn the knobs. So if that one isn't right the others won't be, for example keep yourself alive sounds distance????

Also just on the deacy amp - did anyone ever get the tone out of the amp that was used on say A Winters Tale? What was the point of that amp?

I'm using the May pedal, straight through the front of a Peavey 1x12 studio amp, with several USA Fender strat's, and I'm pretty much nailing many of Brian's tones.

Conversely, I didn't care for the Vox "Deacy" amp at all......

I would think that amp, and pedal together would be a muffled mess.

This is probably the silliest thing I've ever asked; but you are using the clean channel, aren't you?

I'm using the fuzzed up one, beefy one if you like. Why should i be using the clean setting (on amp)? I tried that too but it seems very edgy.

Maybe it's the Deacy amp as people have said above?

You have to either DI the thing, or use a ver, very clean amp.

The Deacy amp, on its own, is alright, but teaming it up with the pedal is a recipe for disaster, as you can plainly hear.

Yeah, basically your doubling up your distortion. The pedal is distorting and the amp is distorting, change to clean!

I'd look for a differtent amp. I'm not a big fan of that amp to begin with, and it was basically made to be a preprocessor. The combination means you've got a processing party going on!

Deary, deary me. It's already been said, but, the Digi bri pedal is an all-in-one. It models from the guitar side to the effects side and finally to the ac30 amp side of Brian's sound. This means that you're supposed to play it DIRECT through either a pair of speakers or the clean channel of an amp.

The Deacy is a nice little amp, but isn't really supposed to be used with other effects. Hence why it's a specialist effect/amp. It's best used on its own.
And for anyone that doesn't like the Deacy, you can't know how it's supposed to be used. I've heard some amazing recordings made with that amp. It's what you do with it that counts.

Adam.

Sometimes when I see people use the Digitech on Youtube, I get this awful feeling that they really don't deserve it and that they should let me borrow it for a while.

LOL!!! Don't even bring up that dork. We once ended up in a discussion about Brian's sound on one of these threads, and he said, and I quote....

"I tink if I can jus get da Brian six pence simulator, that help me sound just like him."

So I told him I have a ton of sixpences, and if he'd give me his address, I'd send him a couple to try out......well that was a mistake.

HE THOUGHT FROM THAT POINT ON THAT I WAS BRIAN MAY!!!

He'd e-mail me 10-15 times a day saying shit like:

"Dude, whats it like to be the greatest guitarist ever?"

"What would it take for you to come rock my birthday party, my parents will pay you good."

"Is it true that Freddie and Roger used to get it on? Always seemed like Rog was kinda gay too."

"Is John gay? No, wait, he's gotta bunch of kids...but with his riches he may pay a dude to stunt hump for him."

"When did you know you were good, cause my problem is I know I am the best at my school, but everyone still says I suck."

..... I mean seriously.... since I had offered him some free sixpences, he assumed I had to be Brian May.

I don't have either the amp or the pedal, but logically speaking you'd be better just getting the pedal. More effects; in the right hands, covers an authentic range of sounds.

I prefer pedals that really let you tinker heaps with the parameters of the effects... but all told, the Red Special pedal seems nifty.
