http://queenwords.com/lyrics/songs/sng03_02.shtml

That site is typically the main site I use for Queen lyrics. It seems to be at least 99% accurate and even if it isn't (I don't know, I'm not going to listen to every single Queen song and compare the lyrics), who cares if a couple of words are wrong?
Hope this helps.

Can someone help me out with some of the lyrics. Most of them are pretty easy to understand what he's saying. But what does the line
met a man from china
went down to geisha mina
then again insadently if your that way inclined.

A geisha is sort of a high-class Japanese call girl (prostitute).

In general I don't think you should try to analyze Freddie's lyrics line by line too much. He often uses imagery to paint a certain picture, to create a feel, a mood. So, in this case Freddie mentions a geisha which adds to the general idea of the song that it's about a high class prostitute, what the geisha is actually doing isn't of that much importance, it just creates a mental picture.

Blah-de-blah, 15 seconds with Google could've solved all that confusion!

I'll be really helpful and tell you something the history books won't. I'm going to give you the lyrics to "Football Fight" from Flash Gordon.

STRAIGHT from the desk of Dr. Brian May. Though unused in the final recording, there is one phrase that fits over two sections in the song. Observe ; there's a synth line that goes:

C B G A E... C B A G F...

And would you believe it, the words "I AM BRIAN MAY" happen to fit twice in that melody. Sing along with it. It works.

Fact.

Later in the song, Brian brings in the Red Special :

D D G G A... D D G G A...

Again. Five notes, five syllables... the staggering reality is that most songs written by Brian May, can be sung simply by using variations of phrases like "I am Brian May", or "My name is Brian May", with an optional "ADWEEEAA" thrown in for good measure.

Fact.

Works with the opening of Save Me. Instead of "It started off so well", or whatever, you can simply sing "My name is Brian May".

Fact.

'Geisha Minah' is surely just a nonsensical play-on-words of Asia Minor (a name for the near East/Western Asia) that incorporates the call-girl connotations of the Geisha, in keeping with the song's exotic-prostitute theme.

Also, 'Keep Yourself Alive' was originally called 'I Am Brian May', and the chorus recited that very same notion.

Fact.

Asia Minor basically means present day Turkey...anyway "Geisha Minah", or "?? ??"(damn this forum doesn't allow me to type Japanese) as it should be in Japanese probably isn't supposed to make sense and the person who said that it alludes to Asia Minor is probably right because it roughly means "All Geishas" in Japanese and even so, it's gibberish.

"Geisha Minah" or "Geisha Minor" are both incorrect. It's a play on words, most definitely, but you have to remember that we're talking about a killer "queen". It's "G'Asia Minor" (GAY-zha Minah). Hope this helps.

Source? Given that I've got Sheer Heart Attack vinyl, CD, Original sheet music book and they all say Geisha.

Hello queenrulz!

I remember those days when it was very difficult for me indeed to get the lyrics (I was too young and I did not speak English) since the albums edited in my country did not have them, so I had to wait until some magazines published them (which was a great ocassion for me) and I also started getting the imported records with their inserts. So I do understand you, and I do really hope you can find what you are looking for. Maybe these links help a little bit:

Yeah, he doesn't know what he's talking about "Geisha Minah" does have a meaning in Japanese and I can confirm that because I know the language. I have SHA on CD only and it says "geisha" too. And those who said "Geisha" means high-class prostitute - you're all wrong. Take a look at Wikipedia.

Bragger.

I've got the cassette, too. Trade you for Assasin, Face It Alone, Dog With A Bone, and the mega-rare Football Fight A Capella version?

Some "hoods" just beat me up on the way to the mailbox and took my tape, put it in their boom box, and started "mixing".

All anybody did was stand around breakdancing.

I started singing "I AM BRIAN MAY". Next thing you know, Russell Simmons showed up and signed us to a 6-record deal.

This hip-hop stuff is easy!!!

Look for my new album "Blang!", coming to a Williams Chicken near you.
