Wow...I've never seen Brian really get into a song like that...wow! Great post, I saved it to favorites real fast!

You are joking right? The Call has to be the worst thing that Brian has ever written. If it comes with a mile of the new album I won't buy it.

I can hear it now.

Brian will have updated the song for the new album with rants about hedgehogs, smoking and those darn parasite fans.

I love this song. Of Course it will not be in the new album(because it is a Queen-Bri/Rog song, not a Queen+PR song) but maybe could appear as a b-side!

It was said somewhere that the songs written and recorded for the 46664 project would remain for the 46664 project and not for a Queen/QPR album, so it's unlikely that we'll ever see 'The Call' or any other song from those sessions on a studio release.

I think the worst thing that Brian has ever written is StarFleet ...

I hate to be a nitpicker, but Brian didn't actually WRITE "Starfleet". He just arranged it as a rock song and recorded it with some friends. The song along with the entire soundtrack of the TV show was written by Paul Bliss.

I like "The Call" - it's very powerful indeed, but I prefer the live version. The demo that appeared on the radio sounds WAY too unpolished.

After listening to Brians voice in that clip it's no wonder he & Roger needed a new lead singer! But I do like that song.

That's a shame. I'd love to hear a version of Say It's Not True with Brian's contributions.

Yeah it does have a good beat to it. I dont like the two drummers. I suppose it makes more power in the sound but it up stages roger.

That's Eric Singer (KISS, Alice Cooper, Black Sabbath, Brian May, Queen (Brian and Roger), SAS Band, Paul Stanley, Gary Moore, Badlands, Lita Ford, ESP) on drums.

He's an excellent drummer and a great singer.

RE: upstages Roger

Roger, due to his age, and while still a great drummer, is not the same drummer he was in the '70s.

Eric was brought in to beef up the sound for Queen, play drums when Roger didn't play drums, but sang lead vocals, and he was also the drummer for many of the other performers at that concert.

Sorry but Eric Singer sucks.

Take a listen to any of the Another World shows and then listen to a show from the Back to the Light tour. Eric Singer is not even close to Cozy Powell.

Re: "The Call" - I liked the idea of the guitar riff being based on the sound of dialing 4-6-6-6-4 on a touchtone. I always liked the TV show "The Prisoner", so the "Are you a man or just a number?" line appealed to me. But otherwise, I liked it not so much. Well-intentioned and even noble sentiment but the execution was lacking - or at least based on the one live performance and the dodgy quality radio broadcast recording of the studio track. Its not suited to Brian's voice and its completely hits you over the head and smacks your face with those hamfisted lyrics. But I suppose it could be turned into something decent. It seems like the whole 46664 thing has run out of steam, so I don't expect to hear a studio version anytime soon. I'm always in favor of more being released as opposed to less.
