Why?

Queen has no more than 3 or 4 singles that aren't on the first 3 Hits albums. Do we really need to find a Greatest Hits volume for A Winter's Tale, It's Late and the chopped up short single version of Liar? Greatest Hits 3 pushed too far already. First of all, after I and II they aren't Greatest Hits, they're just hits. Another would be Queen's worst hits. The only feasible way to do a 4 would involve ransaking their solo catalogues which they started doing on 3.

Besides being profit motivated, shady, embarrassing and ridiculous, a 4th GH album would be far worse than a Greatest Non-hits album would be.

I think a Greatest Hits album should be restricted to the compilation of popular and widely played tracks, hit singles and maybe an early future release of a single like Queen did by including Under Pressure on the original Greatest Hits album released months ahead of Hot Space.

What I dislike with these GH albums are when they add one or two tracks exclusive only to the GH album, thereby punishing the diehard fans who already have all the music but are forced to pay full price for 1 new song amidst all the old ones.

A Greatest Hits album should really be for those who are only mild fans of the artist's more known songs and/or are interested in hearing their best before proceeding onward to buying individual albums. Queen has broken all the rules of chivalry with their compilations and I'd even go so far as to say they are pretty much the worst at it. First it was Queen's First E.P. featuring 4 random songs from different albums, exactly the same in recording. The first GH wasn't bad, and I liked the Under Pressure bonus since it did shortly after find itself on an album. But then years pass and they re-release the original to coincide with the release of GH II, but they rearrange the tracks and create totally new artwork. Then they release Queen Rocks, a combination of hits and album tracks compiled together in a stand alone compilation. It was sleazy how they baited us by including one new song and an alternate mix of another one. And finally they put out GH3, a compilation built of the last great hits, a handful of failed singles, a couple of their biggest solo hit efforts, and a few live items to top it all off. Boy can they milk it.

"BTW: Closed."

Haha. This thread will likely die anyway once I post in it, but it's not like you can just turn a discussion off, you know :P

GH4. Nothing would surprise me less, after paying money for GH3 only to have to turn the thing off when Elton John showed up.
