[Shameful that there is no topic on this yet!]

Noted American author, cynic, failed Saab-dealer, World War Two veteran, humanist and professional provocator Kurt Vonnegut is dead.

His "classy way to commit suicide" (unfiltered Pall Mall cigarettes) didn't work out quite as expected, seeing how he fell down the stairs and died of that. Ah well, can't win 'em all.

The only fitting tribute to this literary giant is to joke about him. Hell, it's what he'd have done. So feel free to do so, or alternatively to toast the motherfucking book-burners [paraphrased, same obscenity level as original] who want to ban everything provocative from the libraries of the world.

"Hey Kurt, can you read lips? Fuck You! Next time, I'll call Robert Ludlum"

The Golden Gate Bridge should have a long bungee cord for people who aren’t quite ready to commit suicide but want to get in a little practice.

I was pretty shocked to hear about this earlier. I think I'll re-read Slapstick in honor. :)

I read "Slapstick" a few months ago.

I have "Breakfast of Champions" and "Welcome to the Monkey House" in my "to be read" pile. Guess I'll get to them.

Even though I hated the story about the kid with a trumpet that I had to read in English class, I still feel sad.

First Rodney, now Kurt.

"whoever wrote this doesn't know shit about Kurt Vonnegut".

They were great in Back To School.

What????

Anna Nicole's baby is Don Imus???

Now that's nappy. But it is a shame we aren't talking about Kurt more. If he had only had bigger boobs.

My mom went to Shortridge High School in Indianapolis, Indiana with him. He wrote for the school paper. Bless ya Kurt. You made the world a better place.
