From today's Tyler, Texas newspaper:

"Question: What do you get if you mix baseball, heckling, kinfolk, beer, shotguns, and Texas?

Answer: A great night at the ballpark.

Gunfire erupted at a East Texas community baseball game after one of the players couldn’t take being heckled anymore. The heckler, the player’s cousin, threw a beer can at the player and then all hell broke lose. The heckler and player got into a fistfight which led to one of the guys going to get a shotgun. Not to be outdone, the other genius asked the crowd if anyone had a gun he could use. The crowd obliged.

The cousins traded shots on or around the field, eventually leading to the parking lot. 4 cars were caught in the crossfire along with the player’s ass which required medical attention for 32 or 33 pellets. The other shooter was treated for injuries on his cheek, arm, and behind his ear."

You know, good times are now.

Haystacks also shot me in the ass.

This is the first gunplay in a while, but we've had several parents arrested for aggressive on-field behaviour.

Last year, the coach from the other team didn't like how his son was tackled and from the sidelines went right after the kid that did it, sending him nearly 5 feet in the air backwards beofre landing with a thud.

All on videotape. The last thing shown is the coach running away and hopping a fence. Two days later, 6 months in jail.

Scary? You should see the cheerleaders and their team Moms. That's even worse.

I can't argue with you that it's another world here in Texas. Remember, we still have a town here called "White Settlement". Last year they tried to change the name and it was voted down. Go figure.

Soccer parents are the worst.....

It wasn't that bad 15-20 years ago when I was playing baseball, football, and basketball.

It's these genetic defective parents who ruin the games for the kids, because I guess that their athletic career consisted of playing right field in the last inning of blowouts, and have to live vicariously thru their own kids.

I have to tell you, though, that I have personally broken up fights between people at my daughters indoor soccer games.

She's 7................

I often wonder too, when did this "every kid gets to play" nonsense start? What ever happened to may the best team/person win, and if you lose, you work that much harder to improve your skills? In the youth sports, it's only right to let everyone play. But, the better kids are gonna play more than the ones who don't "get it".

Once you hit 12-13, that everyone plays crap needs to end. Lets face it, all of us weren't meant to be ballplayers.

It goes hand in hand with the politically correct nonsense pervading our society. We're no longer allowed to imply that someone is better than someone else or that someone else needs to work harder. We're supposed to accept everyone as they are.

Everyone is good and equal, and fair competition is, apparently, bad.

They can, they can. If there's one thing the world has learned since 1861, it's NEVER UNDERESTIMATE THE SOUTH.

Ah good ole southern stereotypes ... but what about Canadian stereotypes? Presumably Boy Thomas Raker is Canadian, but I doubt he will be offended by the following joke, as it really is a stupid joke that most would not take seriously or really believe in this Canadian stereotype.

Why do Canadians prefer doing it doggie style?

... So they can both watch the hockey game.

Happens where I live too. Parent after parent being ejected from little league and pee wee football games.

My daughter cheers and does gymnastics competively and there have been a few times I've had to hold myself back from jumping on some Jon' Bene Ramsey-type mother in the stands. I could never embarrass my child or myself though but if some idiot said something specifically about my daughter or my son, it would be on.

Wo ist das kamerahhhhhhhhhhh!!!

LOL! My nephews are in a little league baseball team. We're talking about 7 - 10 year olds, and man I have seen some stupid fights break out. Not the kids but the parents.

Some parts of Texas are okay. Houston, DFW, San Antonio and Austin. God, I love Austin, but some other parts I wouldn't want to come near to.
