Give it a hug from me.
My nephews cat will likely get 'the needle' tomorrow, despite having thousands of dollars in vet bills thrown at it.

Love them while you have them folks!! :(

Oh, no. I hate to hear this. I'm so sorry for your nephew, his cat and you. It's so hard to let these precious little things go. I've had to do it three times in the past couple of years - the most recent being only a few months ago.

I'm very sorry. I'll hug both of mine right now.

I'd hug mine, but it flew out of the window last year.

Thanks ol' buddy. :( He really is the most docile little thing. I'm going to miss him like crazy.

My beloved cat Carly is going strong at 16 years but I realize our time is limited. Pets are just like people when it comes to relationships.. they either leave or die.

i got my last 3 cats when i was in my early teens and all 3 died within 2 weeks of each other 18 years later.ive refused to have a pet since, they're too much of an emotional burden.however my best friend is turning her place into a zoo at the moment.she bought a dwarf bunny today and i convinced her to name it bubbles :-]

and to the topic starter i will stroke my friends pussy in your honour when i see her next..

My beloved kitty is dying at the moment. Her name is Rory and I've had her 12 years. A couple months ago, she was looking thinner than usual, so I took her to the vet. Bloodtests showed her kidney levels were elevated. The vet gave me a special prescription diet to give her. She liked the food well enough, and seemed to be doing okay. But I had her back in two weeks ago for another blood check, and her kidneys are slowly failing. The vet said that if we could give her fluids intravenously, that it might buy her some time. So every other day, my husband and I hang up a bag of ringers solution, and give her an iv of fluids. I didn't even know how I feel about that, as I don't want the poor dear to suffer (though she is very good about it, and she doesn't look ill, and she is as cuddly and purrs as loudly as ever.). But now yesterday she didn't eat, and she hasn't eaten today. She goes to the vet tomorrow morning, and I think its not going to be good news...I will definitely hug her, and all my other critters too.

:-(

that was the same thing with the last of my 3 called Fleabag [her real name was fifi trixibell but she would only answer to fleabag].she suffered a stroke and then her kidneys failed and she went blind.i couldnt see her suffer so i had her put down.
my heart goes out to you and rory at the mo,may she not suffer for too long.

My 14 year old German shepherd, Emma, had to be put to sleep last year. I couldn't even bear to be with her when she was euthanized. Pieter and my sister stayed with her. I was afraid I'd have a break down in the vet's office. I've got her ashes in my bedroom. Man, I miss that dog. :-(

Janet, this is a heartbreaking story - and one I'm very familiar with. I understand what you're going through and I'm very sorry. I hope tomorrow's vet visit will bring happy news. If not, you can be comforted by how happy she was because of all you've done for her. They know how much we love them. And they know we'll do the right thing when we have to... because we love them too much not to.

Well... it can only be a couple of hours left now.
If there's one damn thing I hate, it's waiting for death :(
I don't even get to say goodbye to him, I've got a rather important rehearsal to go to.

Thankyou for all your pet stories. Really does suck when this happens, don't it?

:(

but a cheerful story. last night one of my friends thought his cat was dead somewhere (he had been missing for several days). this morning his cat was meowing at the front door, skinny, but ok. he found his way back :-D hes doing ok so far.

Aww I know how you feel :( My cat Lizzy lived to the grand old age of 20. The vet was really nice about it, he came to our house to put her down which helped. Just remember, (and pardon for the cliche) it is better to have loved and lost than to never have loved at all.

Well... he only lived 7 months, but we made them as nice as possible.

He got his needle this afternoon right as the sun was going down. T'was very peaceful.

Thanks for the kind thoughts!
