1. Queen + Paul Rodgers ignore Texas - Although I got to see 3 shows, it would have been nice to have had a concert or two within 500 miles of Texas. They managed to cover everywhere else pretty good.

2. Brian May and Ford - Everything I do, is driven by you was the only shameful sellout moment of Queen's legacy. I don't know what possessed Brian to write a song for a car commercial but it's the one blemish of his integrity, in my opinion. I forever skip over that track because of that.

3. Queen Rocks - Queen releases a random compilation of hard rock songs without any real purpose other than to make us pay a full cd price for 'No One But You' and a slightly altered version of 'I can't Live With You'.

4. Queen The First E.P. - I was like 3 when this happened. A completely pointless 4 track E.P. offering ZERO new material.

5. Liar: The Single - Why did they bother releasing Liar as a single the way they did. It's the most butchered edit I have heard among their singles. They ruined the song the way they released it.

6. Staying Power on Hot Space - The Milton Keynes show proves that a faster, guitar version of this song is AWESOME! So why then did they decide to slow it down and uncharacteristically add horns? It's awful on Hot Space, Incredible on On Fire At The Bowl.

7. Friend Will Be Friends - Kum-bi-yah m'lord.... Kum-bi-yah.... HORRIBLE SAPPY LYRICS.

8. Endless delays of the Box sets. They've been teasing us for FAR too long with the promised box sets that still seem to be many years away.

9. Live Killers - Don't get me wrong, I like Live Killers and all, but it's still the worst concert of that period for them. A VERY bad choice for their first live release.

10. 'We Will Rock You' the Play - I've never seen it so my opinion is pretty lame. But the synopsis I read makes me want to yack.

I love Queen more than any other cultural entity, but just felt today like picking on them for once.

The retake of I Can't Live With You and No-One But You were worth the price of Queen Rocks IMO.

If I'm correct Liar was released against Queen's wishes.

Hey Duck Soup, good call.

Pim Derks you are correct. The boys had no control over the Liar edit and are well documented in interview to say so.

Yes it was. Brian was approached by Ford to write a song. He said he would only do it if he felt like he could come up with something that was good. He later adapted the song for the Back to The Light album.

I disagree with the Live Killers comment. The sound mix is horrible and it's a shame that Somebody To Love, Fat Bottomed Girls, If You Can't Beat Them and It's Late were left off. I think the album should be re-released with a better audio mix and those 4 songs included. Regardless, it's a good album.

I also disagree with the Queen Rocks comment. Great concept, great album, except for the click at the beginning of Fat Bottomed Girls. Still waiting for QR2. Here's my tracklisting in no particular order:

1. Princes of the Universe
2. Liar
3. Son and Daughter
4. Ogre Battle (BBC Version)
5. Flick of the Wrist
6. Sweet Lady
7. Death on Two Legs
8. Dead on Time
9. Let Me Entertain You
10. Dragon Attack
11. We Will Rock You (fast live version)
12. I Go Crazy
13. Gimme The Prize or Staying Power (on Fire version)
14. Hang On In There
15. The Hero
16. The Hitman
17. I Was Born To Love You
18. Brighton Rock

What do y'all think?

They "ignored" South America, Oceania, Scotland too. Clearly they couldn't get everywhere, as you acknowledge by your last sentence.

2. Brian May and Ford - Everything I do, is driven by you was the only shameful sellout moment of Queen's legacy. I don't know what possessed Brian to write a song for a car commercial but it's the one blemish of his integrity, in my opinion. I forever skip over that track because of that.

1. Nothing to do with Queen's legacy. it's a Brian song
2. He wrote them a song because they asked him too. That hardly counts as a lack of integrity, especially as he refused to do it until he found another, more personal angle/level for the song to work at.

3. Queen Rocks - Queen releases a random compilation of hard rock songs without any real purpose other than to make us pay a full cd price for 'No One But You' and a slightly altered version of 'I can't Live With You'.

1. You only needed to buy the NOBY single to get the new track.
2. Nobody "makes" you buy anything

4. Queen The First E.P. - I was like 3 when this happened. A completely pointless 4 track E.P. offering ZERO new material.

the intention was probably to showcase some lesser known album tracks to drive people to the album catalogue. Plus, nobody HAD to buy it.

5. Liar: The Single - Why did they bother releasing Liar as a single the way they did. It's the most butchered edit I have heard among their singles. They ruined the song the way they released it.

Check your facts. They didn't know it had been edited, and are probably still angry about it.

6. Staying Power on Hot Space - The Milton Keynes show proves that a faster, guitar version of this song is AWESOME! So why then did they decide to slow it down and uncharacteristically add horns? It's awful on Hot Space, Incredible on On Fire At The Bowl.

The album version is the band's definitive performace. The live version is stripped down to enable public performance to promote the album

8. Endless delays of the Box sets. They've been teasing us for FAR too long with the promised box sets that still seem to be many years away.

"promised"? when? did you get it in writing?

9. Live Killers - Don't get me wrong, I like Live Killers and all, but it's still the worst concert of that period for them. A VERY bad choice for their first live release.

Which concert is it? My copy doesn't give a date.

I give you 2/10...

I'd substitute the extended BBC (or is it the demo?) version of "Jesus" for #17...otherwise, that's A HELL OF A QR2!!!!

If we ignore the fact that this is a sharing the music - announce forum, you are wrong in many things.

1) QPR ignored many states, not only states in USA, but also for example Slovakia :)

2) Driven By You is a great song, I don't care if it was written for money, and it has NOTHING to do with Queen, it's a Brian May solo song

3) Queen Rocks had much more different songs, WWRY has been slightly edited (the silence at the end is gone), Tie Your Mother Down is the single version and is very well remastered, I Can't Live With You is NOT slightly altered, but it's almost a completely different song, I'm In Love With My Car is a brand new remix combining the best bits of the single version and the album version, and there is of course NOBY.

4) I fully agree, but I wasn't 3 when it happened :)

5) Liar single - the correct answer was written by guys before

6) And not only Staying Power, ALL songs from Hot Space sound MUCH better live, if they recorded those songs this way, I'm sure the album would be a hit.

7) Exactly, it's one of the few Queen songs I really HATE.

8) -||-

9) Live Killers is not a concert, it's a "best of tour"-type compilation, and it sounds WONDERFULL on the last Japanese remastered edition. But I would of course more happy if they released for example Hammersmith Odeon 26/12/79 , it's my favorite concert from that era

10) I didn't see the musical, but many people who had seen it say it's crap, but many people who had seen it say it's great, so who's right ? But I have the official "soundtrack" and the music is great (I LOVE internet gaga :) -"and all the things we wanna get we download from the internet")

The biggest mistake ever was the choice of Paul Rodgers. His attitudes, his complete behaviour, his voice(!)....it all doesn´t fit to that fantastic sound of Queen

THANK YOU FRANK!!!! This is the only thing I'd dare to critisize the rest of the Queen for! I'd never dare to set a single word against the band at Freddie's time simply because I myself wouldn't be able to make the things day did. Having in mind what an incredible talent Freddie haS and having in mind that PR is much more limited then him in every respect, I don't think that the rest of the band made much good. I think I sing better then PR in a karaoke after the 4th vodka, and yes, I think that, being a writer for over then 10 years now, I could write a better libreto for a musical using Freddie's songs ONLY.

And eventhough the time did pass

and memories tired lied,

and we will all be turned to dust

your song shall never die!

I certainly would have included the We Will Rock You single released with Five in 2000 amongst my top 10.

I like lists like this, although I don't agree with some of the points. It provides a good source for discussion, unlike many posts on this forum.

I have to strongly disagree with Live Killers. Being a bit (or a lot!) older, I remember when it came it. At that time, everyone was putting out live albums. I liked some, but most of them were pointless. I wasn't familiar with Queen, but I bought Live Killers because I thought the picture on the back of the album looked cool. I'll never forget putting that record on and being amazed at how DIFFERENT this band was. The strong melodies in hard rock songs, the incredible singing and guitar tone, the energy of the audience... it put 99% of the other live albums to shame. I've been a fan ever since.

I'd replace that on your list with that piece of s**t Live Magic release. Absolutely worthless.
