Just when I thought I'd seen it all.

Can I dress up like Chewbacca and show up?

Err no.

This is for serious people only, who have made there own Red Special, or own a replica, and take a general interest in the guitar, and the sound.

regards matt

My apologies.

I thought this was for just ANYBODY who has any incarnation of a Red Special, not actual Luthiers.

(but I still bet the female demographic will be low...  I'd hire some strippers)

4 -5 female guitarists are attending as well as singers. This it not just for Luthiers, it is for anyone whos owns a red special and takes an interest in it, and also for those who have built one.

Too fucking bad I live in Florida! Damn! As a guitarist myself, it would be pretty cool to have a US Red Special meet. But im only 14 and the only shitty music the dumbass tourists around here listen to is rap shit etc.

I think the USA side people have been trying to organise a meet since last year... but its never happened. I think the main problem is the US so many cities... they have trouble deciding where to have it, cause of the distances people have to travel.

Hopefully one day they will figure it out, Thanks for your interest,

I think that its more the fact that over here, real music fans are few and far between. There are tons of people over here that "like" a band. Ill ask them to name one un-generic or non-Greatest Hits song by them. Can they do that? Nope! In my history class, my teacher showed a picture of Led Zeppelin in Tampa in 1973 and someone thought it was Metallica! Too bad we had to move down here from Connecticut in 1988. There are some true music fans in the northeast! And for a town so tourist-oriented as Panama City, you'd think there would be a record shop or something. Nope! I have to go to a antique store downtown every few months and stock up on rare Beatles/Stones albums. Finding a Queen album here is like finding a grain of sand in a mountain of dirt. Sorry for rambling on. I have many pent up angst's for my current dumbass generation.

Reallyy i know quite a few people in south america with Red specials.

Just a little over 2 weeks remain to the meet up so far I have 20 people remaining, and 10 places remaining till the hall is full.

Man... to buy is easy,, but when the RED arrive in brazil you have to pay Fu** tax to take the red special!!!! stay very expensive... without the portage tax... it's to expensive!!!!!!...

but it's more cheap you buy in the official store than you buy an used guitar in brazil!!!!!

With a week to go to this years meeting, this will be the last email
before the event.
With approx 20 people attending and limited space, this is you last chance
to book a table to display, or just to attend and have a look round and
chat to others and share your views.

So far around 7 people with 4 – 5 various amps and setups will be on
display and ready for demos and trials.
The main stage is coming together, with 2 ac30’s, Drums, and a PA system.

A range of guitars will also be there, from Homemade, to Guyton.

Hot and cold drinks are available throughout the day, as well as light
snacks.

Admission is £4, no extra charge for display areas, But you must contact me
before to confirm what you are bringing, and that you would like a table.

Amazed at the pics from the event.  I must have been asleep the day Brian announced he'd had the Birch back.  Why is it green?

It oxidised with the ?paint that was on it.. Apparently the paint reacted with the sweat etc.Everett Wood has made 2 replicas and he used gold-leaf on it. He has all the original design info and had the thing when it was in pieces. John Page gave EW all the info etc. Everett gave the guitar back to BM.Grateful....??hmm....
It was ok to play and the breaks were very apparent. As it was restored, the tuning issues were sorted etc. It was nice to play a piece of history. There was the scalloped Guyton (made for BM) That again was a delight to play. Playing through his original treble booster was also a bonus!!
Nice to have been allowed to use the historic gear.

Nothing to do with me, mines the 8th August, southeast just outside london, this other one was done over my head, even though mine was organised back in December 2008 for the 8th August 09.

Basicly a group didnt like the success of the one i did on the 12th July 2008 so they went and did one of there own, appart from the goodies they got it wasnt very good.

Last year the other i organised I had an attendance of 35 - 40 people. Here is a link to the past meetups and information on the 8th August meeting being held in a weeks time close to London,
