News > 'Bo Rhap' Recorded by Miracle as Part of DJ's "Sorry"!

Added on 11-Dec-2002

Bohemian Rhapsody is to be professionally recorded by the brillian Queen tribute band 'Miracle' as part of Dutch Radio 2's Top 2000 celebrations. The top 2000 in the Netherlands has featured Queen in the number one spot with Bohemian Rhapsody.

There is a rumour going 'round that again it got to number one of the Top 2000 this year as well.

Some time ago a very famous and highly respected DJ in the Netherlands, Frits Spits started a poll and dedicated a special page on which he starts to wonder if there's nothing better in

the music industry than Bohemian Rhapsody. (Sorry, in Dutch only)

It was more like a question to the listeners and not really trying

to put Queen and the song down (he stated that he loves the band

and the song very much himself. He thinks the song is a masterpiece,

without any doubt).

But because he started that poll and the statement he made about why it ends up on the number one spot every year made a lot of Queen fans, but also other listeners decide to protest against Frits.

One guy even made a clone site of the site by Frits and started a poll to get new DJ's in radio world... kinda like a counter-attack against Frits Spits. Even the Dutch Queen fan club got involved.

"Don't influence the voting", was the most heard comment. And that

is where he had to admit that what he did was wrong.

Now... to prove he is really sorry he promised the listeners/Queen fans

that he would write alternative lyrics to Bohemian Rhapsody and he

would make sure it was to be recorded and broadcasted.

Now he has finished the lyrics and he approached Miracle to record it

in a studio. Miracle only gets three evenings for this and considering

what a gigantic and difficult song this is, the guys hope they can

pull it off and deliver that alternative song in the best possible way.

The excellent cover bands website can be found at:

The week before the Top 2000, which is broadcasted on December 24th,

Frits Spits will let the listeners hear a sort of "making of..." during his

radioprogram on Radio 2.

The programmes of Frits Spits are broadcast on Dutch radio 2 and on

the internet, every week day between 12 and 2 pm (GMT+01:00):

(Click on the Dog in the upperleft corner)

The alternative lyrics are going to be in Dutch and in short, it will

be like this...

In the first section of the song he will wonder if there is really nothing

better than this song. In the mid section (the opera section) the doubt

will kick in and he then starts to realize that indeed this is a song larger than life itself. In the last rock part he will start to apologize and openly declares that there's not much he could do to prevent it from reaching the number one spot it deserves.

Mind you, this will not be said word by word, but it's the whole intention

of the song. The song goes by the name of "Boheemse Spijtoptant" now,

but that the working title at the moment... it can change!

Boheemse = Bohemian

Spijtoptant = description of "someone that want to join in later in time".
