By Peter Archer, PA Court Correspondent

The Queen is to throw a party for rock stars and music maestros, it emerged today.

Buckingham Palace also announced a concert for inner-city children followed by a kids’ party.

Pop stars Phil Collins, Brian May and Jools Holland are among those likely to accept invitations to the evening reception at Buckingham Palace.

In addition, classical and jazz musicians are being invited.

The March 1 music theme-day is in royal recognition of the excellence and importance of the £5-billion-a-year music industry to Britain.

Others being invited include singer Jamie Cullen, veteran trumpet player Humphrey Lyttleton and the legendary Dame Vera Lynn, as well as music industry support staff.

The Palace daytime children’s concert – with a mixture of styles of music – and party is for 200 children from inner-London schools.
