Franz Ferdinand have been using Queen music prior to making their stage appearance in their 2007 Scottish Tour. The band played the recorded studio version of Queen's 'Bicycle Race' prior to the gig at the Whiteness and Weisdale Hall in the Shetland Islands on 24th September. The gig was part of a series of low-key Scottish gigs showcasing new material following on from a summer of brief live appearances. Franz Ferdinand's very own 'Crazy Tour' if you will!
Franz are currently writing their third album with a release date in the early part of 2008 pencilled in. The influence of Queen on Franz Ferdinand's lead singer Alex Kapranos is well known - see interview at: http://youtube.com/watch?v=n2lp1blCph8 - whilst Brian awarded the band with the Best British Rock Band award at the 2005 Brits.
