Queen Join Adidas to Celebrate Team GB
Lend their song “Don’t Stop Me Now” to Recognise Team GB Champions
Rock group Queen, whose songs ‘We Will Rock You’ and ‘We Are The Champions’ have provided the musical backdrop to many of the London Games events – it was revealed today ‘We Will Rock You’ has been played no less than 505,998 times (approximately) during these past two weeks – have now joined in the congratulations for Team GB by lending their song ‘Don’t Stop me Now’ for a special celebration video produced by team wear sponsor Adidas.
In the video produced yesterday, and now going global across the internet, Olympic medallists Sir Chris Hoy, Jessica Ennis, Victoria Pendleton, Louis Smith and Pete Reed are joined by a number of other athletes from Team GB in their own version of Queen's 'Don't Stop Me Now' celebrating the success of London 2012, introduced and faded out by that other great British champion David Beckham, OBE.
Queen members Brian May and Roger Taylor tonight joined some of the UK’s biggest names in the London 2012 Olympics closing ceremony giving a fully live performance of their London Games favourite ‘We Will Rock You’ as well as remembering their late, great singer Freddie in a special tribute on film.
The Games now move on to Rio, and one can only speculate how the band will feature there, bearing in mind their iconic status in the country after their legendary opening to almost half a million fans at the original Rock in Rio Festival in 1985. Roll on Team GB in Rio!
