A red velour robe made for rock legend Freddie Mercury was the star of the show at an auction of pop and film memorabilia on Saturday.
The exotic garment, together with a photograph showing the Queen frontsman wearing one on stage that appears identical, made £680 - more than double the guide price at Gaze's salerooms in Diss.
“We had commissioned bids as well as people bidding here and it went to someone in the room,” said sales organiser James Bassam.
A singing automaton of the late James Brown was snapped up for £25 and a 1963 poster from a Beatles concert went for just under its £200 estimate.http://new.edp24.co.uk/content/news/story.aspx?brand=EDPOnline&category=News&tBrand=edponline&tCategory=news&itemid=NOED14%20Jan%202007%2016%3A35%3A57%3A427
