''Killer Queen: A Tribute To Queen''

''Label: Hollywood Records''

''If you like: Queen tribute bands, and all that such implies.''

''Song to download: ''Under Pressure'' by Joss Stone.''

''It’s probably good that Killer Queen, a multi-band salute to Queen - the most flamboyant rock band of all time - starts on an unfortunate note. Gavin DeGraw is barely a line into ''We Are The Champions'' when his voice cracks and he misses the first of many notes once easily hit by the late Freddie Mercury, Queen’s King of Camp.''

''From that point, there was nowhere to go but up.''

''The most amazing moment: a spot-on rendition of ''Bohemian Rhapsody'' performed by the cast of We Will Rock You, the musical about Mercury’s life. More satisfying: the bands that make no attempt to replicate the original recordings. Thus, Joss Stone’s Memphis-funky version of ''Under Pressure,'' Los Lobos’ bluesy ''Sleeping On The Sidewalk'' and a version of ''Fat Bottom Girls,'' by the all-female Antigone Rising, that would sound at home in an Alabama bar.''

''Mercury was no felonious hunk; he was inimitable. Still, the anything-goes-darling spirit of Mercury surfaces enough to make him laugh from beyond the pale - and that means much.''
