VH1 Honors Freddie Mercury Tribute Concert Anniversary-This Day In MusicOn This Day in Music April 20, 1992. From VH1 Music First.
In London, Elton John, Guns N' Roses, Roger Daltrey, Liza Minnelli, David Bowie, George Michael, Def Leppard, and Spinal Tap all perform at a memorial concert for Queen singer Freddie Mercury.
I would like to add there were over 70,000 people in attendance at London's Wembley Stadium for this Internationally Televised Momentous Event, with some One Billion people worldwide watching the live broadcast. Elizabeth Taylor, Annie Lennox, Robert Plant, Seal, Lisa Stansfield, and Metallica were just a sampling of the many more esteemed artists who paid their respects to the legendary Freddie Mercury.
The event was a watershed landmark in raising the International social conscience in raising awareness and funds to fight and find a cure for AIDS.
I was one of the many people around the world watching that day with fond memories, hope, and love. We honor and treasure you and your legendary legacy, we miss you and love you...always and forever, Freddie.
